Like many communities in the Charlotte metro area, the City of Huntersville, North Carolina has a history and heritage tied to cotton mills, cotton farming, the railroad, and brick manufacturing. The community was incorporated in 1873 and was first known as Craighead. The city was renamed sometime later for one of the area’s most significant landowners, a farmer named Robert Hunter. Hunter’s farmhouse still stands and is a well-known historical landmark in the community and the oldest of the publically owned sites. Today this fast-growing bedroom community is a popular destination for those commuting to Charlotte for school or work.
Beyond its rich history and a fabulous location in proximity to Charlotte, Huntersville also boasts abundant natural beauty. This scenic landscape can be easily enjoyed at places such as the 26,276-acre Congaree National Park. Other attractions in the Charlotte area include top-notch shopping centers like South Park. South Park is an upscale shopping center anchored by Ann Taylor, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, Alex and Ani, and many other recognized brands. There are also wonderful dining venues located in the vicinity, including Reid's Fine Foods & Wine Bar, The Cheesecake Factory, McCormick & Schmick’s, California Pizza Kitchen, and Maggiano’s Little Italy, to name a few. On top of all of these fabulous conveniences, Huntersville is in proximity to exciting entertainment opportunities like those found at the 400-acre amusement park Carowinds. Carowinds has eight areas, each with its own theme, including Camp Snoopy, Carousel Park, Thrill Zone, County Fair, and Carolina Boardwalk. With so much to offer prospective homebuyers, the Charlotte metro area, and Huntersville in particular, is a great place to buy home.
